I have my reasons
for unraveling
this tapestry,
for letting the yarn
pool at my feet.
I want an ocean
so I can float to safety
on my own flood.
Cities are submerged
one by one and I
can’t remember
the last time I didn’t
see water through my window,
or hear it creeping in
from beneath the doorframes.
I walk through salt
to reach you.
The waves touch my thighs
as if they want to get to know me.
